Frequently Asked Questions

If you have never experienced chiropractic before, it’s normal to have some questions or concerns. Below, you’ll find the questions we get most commonly from people. If yours is not answered here, please give us a call.

Once I see a chiropractor, will I always have to go?

We leave the choices about your healthcare up to you. We recommend regular checkups to maintain your health. If you feel that you’ve reached your goal with treatment, however, you need never continue. We’re always here if you decide you need more help in the future.

Does it hurt to get adjusted?

No. If you hear a sound, it’s the same effect as what occurs when you hear a click in your knuckle. If you have mild discomfort after the adjustment, it’s simply your body getting used to functioning properly again.

Can chiropractic cure everything?

Chiropractic is designed to look at the joints, muscles and nerves of the body. We hear anecdotes from patients who benefit in numerous other ways, too, which is always exciting.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No referral is required to see a chiropractor. If needed, we’ll be happy to update your GP on your case.

Will I get adjusted on my first visit?

The first visit is to determine the cause of your problems and whether we can help you. You’ll receive an adjustment on your second visit with us if we determine that chiropractic is appropriate for you.

Will you suggest exercises I can do?

Yes. We have found that when our patients do home exercises in addition to their care, they get better results. The exercises we give to you will be tailor-made.

Can someone who has had back surgery see a chiropractor?

Yes, and the treatment will be modified to accommodate any postsurgical scarring or other issues.

Do I need to see a chiropractor or massage therapist?

We won’t know until we evaluate you. If you come in for a consultation and we think massage is best, your chiropractor will tell you. Similarly, if you go to the massage therapist and they think you can benefit from chiropractic, you’ll be informed of that.

What’s the difference between chiropractic and osteopathy?

Both a chiropractor and an osteopath help people with musculoskeletal injuries and problems. Though similar, they have different training and use different techniques.
