What to Expect:
Your first visit to West Lothian Chiropractic is a private initial consultation & examination with your practitioner.
During this session, your practitioner undertakes a thorough Chiropractic spinal examination including postural assessment, orthopaedic (joints and muscles) testing and neurological (nerve) tests.
If required, further tests such as X-rays or scans etc. may be discussed and can be arranged for you with the relevant practitioner.
At this stage, you will receive a full explanation of the findings from your Examination.
If we believe that Chiropractic care is an option for you, we will clearly explain the reasons why and provide our best assessment of how long and how often treatment should be undertaken.
We talk you through what’s gone wrong and why, and we’ll discuss your expectations and commitment required to achieve your health goals.
Your regular visits to West Lothian Chiropractic will consist of a series of bespoke Chiropractic Adjustments that are tailored to your care.
Many patients decide to continue with their adjustments once their pain or symptoms have eased to continue to ensure your body is functioning at its best.
Throughout your care we will schedule regular complimentary Re-Assessments to monitor your progress and make sure you are getting the most from your care.

Is chiropractic treatment safe?
Chiropractic is widely recognised as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of pain. Although chiropractic has an excellent safety record, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects. The risks associated with chiropractic, however, are very small.
Many patients feel immediate relief following chiropractic treatment, but some may experience mild soreness, stiffness or aching, just as they do after some forms of exercise. Current research shows that minor discomfort or soreness following spinal manipulation typically fades within 24 hours.
Is treatment ongoing?
The hands-on nature of the chiropractic treatment is essentially what requires patients to visit the chiropractor a number of times.
Our chiropractors provide acute, chronic, and/or preventive care thus making a certain number of visits sometimes necessary. Your doctor of chiropractic should tell you the extent of treatment recommended and how long you can expect it to last.
Should I contact my GP?
Not unless you wish to. With your permission your chiropractor will send a report to your GP; with details of your condition and the treatment you are receiving. This is because your GP is the custodian of your complete medical record so it is in your interests if it is kept up to date.
Why is there a pop or crack when a joint is adjusted?
Adjustment (or manipulation) of a joint may result in the release of a gas bubble between the joints, which makes a popping sound. The same thing occurs when you “crack” your knuckles. The noise is caused by the change of pressure within the joint, which results in gas bubbles being released. There is usually minimal, if any, discomfort involved.
What if chiropractic treatment doesn't work for me?
If we’re unable to find and reduce the underlying cause of your particular health problem, we’ll refer you to other trustworthy specialists who may be able to help. Your health and satisfaction are our only goal.
